I am going to be apart of another blog, this one isn’t related to tattoos but Downtown Pittsburgh. If you’re looking for anything relating to Downtown Pittsburgh my group and I will let you know all about it. Its a really cool blog and you should check it out! its called Dahntahnliving and I hope you guys like it!
Its been fun!
Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I will officially be closing my account. Well maybe not closing it, but I just won’t be posting as much stuff as I normally do from now on. I made this blog for my Multimedia class at Point Park University. I had to create a blog from scratch on a topic that interests me. Of course I picked tattoos, whats not to love about tattoos!? Each week I had different tasks that needed to be completed for a grade. These tasks are available be for you to see very easily, they’re my posts! Yep, each post was evaluated for a grade! Hopefully you thought my blog was A plus worthy!
Well its been fun, hopefully I’ll get on here for fun every once in awhile.
Until then, stay tattooed and beautiful!

Tattoo Interview Starring Roxanne
My good friend Roxanne Grundmeier, a Junior at Point Park University, has some pretty sick ink. I sat her down and asked her a few questions. Enjoy!
- How many tattoos do you have and where are they.
3 tattoos. One on my back, one on my shoulder, and one on the underneath part of my chest.
- Explain each tattoo.
The one on my back is a quote from Psalms 121
The one on my shoulder is the quote “This too shall pass”
And the one on my lower chest is of Nike the Goddess of Victory holding wreath and a torch.
- Which tattoo hurt the worst? Explain what hurt so bad about it.
The one on my chest for sure. The worst part was when he was doing my ribs and sternum. The shading killed me, I hated it more then the outline.
- What is your major? What do you want to do for a living?
SAEM (Sports, Arts, and Entertaining Management)
The possibilities are endless. I would love to work for the NBA cares association. I also would really like to be stationed at the Oklahoma City Thunder Stadium and run where the team would go and what events they would attend.
- What do your parents/ family members think of your tattoos?
My dad doesn’t know I have them. My mom likes them. She was shocked when I showed her the one on my chest, but she ended up really liking it!
- If you had to choose which tattoo is your favorite?
I like the look of the one on my chest the best, but I likes the meaning of the on one my shoulder that says, “This too shall pass.”
- Which one has the most significance to you and why?
The one that says, “This too shall pass.” It reminds me that no matter how bad life gets things will always get better. Also, it reminds me that no matter how good you have it, you must remember not to take it for granted. That happiness can be taken away from you within seconds.
- Which one has the least significance and why?
The chest one, because its more of inspiration kind of thing and the other ones are more like reality checks or reminders.
- Where did you get your tattoos?
Chest and shoulder -The flying monkey in South side

Back- Heroic Ink in Iowa.

10. Any artist worth sharing for recommendations and why?
The one who did my chest piece. His name is Gary Skryter from The Flying Monkey in Pittsburgh’s South Side. He is really good with detail and he is a really good artist. I told him to do what ever he thought was best and put all my trust in him and he killed it.
11. At what point in your life did you realize you really wanted to have tattoos?
I never actually thought I would get a tattoo until my senior year of high school. I didn’t actually get one until my sophomore year of college and now I’m addicted!
12. What makes them addictive?
I love the way they look. Its like dying you hair, you want a change! I also really like showing off art on my body.
13. Out of all of the tattoo artists that you have had who is the best one?
Gary Skryter for sure
14. Would you rather have tattoos that you can conceal or tattoos that are very visible? Why?
If tattoos where completely acceptable in the work place then I would have them everywhere. But as of now I like to have them so I can cover them up just for that reason
Skin Deep – A Youth Culture Tattoo Documentary
Not only do I love the cinematography in this piece but I love its message.
“Tattoos are one of the few things in life that will last forever.”
“Awesome” Tattoo Blog
This review is on another blog called Awesome Tattoo Blog. From the title you might think that this is simply an awesome blog about tattoos. After looking at it, it seems to just be a blog that is home to tons of pictures of awesome tattoos. The blog it self isn’t too awesome, but the tattoos it features are pretty cool.
The blog layout is very simple, white background with green text.
It really doesn’t bother me that this blog’s layout is so simple… what bothers me is how simple the posts are. The posts on this blog are strictly photographs of tattoos. There is hardly ever an artist’s name or a name of the person being photographed. Just simply pictures of tattoos, that’s all.
I do like the tab “Tattoos by Julaika.” If you click on this, all of the photos that were tagged by Julaika come up to be viewed. I don’t know if the blog belongs to this Julaika person or that is even a person, but this feature is pretty cool.
Another thing that’s kind of disappointing is that this blog is the first thing to come up when you Google search “tattoo blogs.” This wouldn’t really make me upset if I didn’t personally have my own blog devoted to tattoos, but since I do, I’m pretty sad about it. I wish my blog came up very first when “tattoo blog” was entered into ANY search engine! Who knows, the owner of this blog might have paid big bucks to be first on Google’s line up. This also could happen simply because when people look up blogs about tattoos they don’t just want any tattoo blog, they want to find an AWESOME tattoo blog. And there you go, that’s the name of this blog!
When you go into this blog’s archive you can see that they haven’t posted anything since December 4, 2013. This wouldn’t bother me if this blog weren’t the VERY FIRST blog to pop up when you search “tattoo blog” on Google! I don’t know if this is disappointing only because I’m bitter, but I would hope that there would be some later posts. At least post something in 2014!
To wrap it up, this blog really isn’t that bad! If you’re like most tumblr users and all you care about is being easily entertained this blog would be great! You can easily see tons of awesome tattoos just by scrolling and I’m pretty sure that’s why I follow them on my personal tumblr account! All in all I wouldn’t call this tattoo blog awesome, but I kind of have to since that’s its name.

My Current Tattoos
Well there you have it! These are the tattoos that currently reside on my body.
The first and second ones were done by Jonnie Frederick at Electric Empire in Butler Pennsylvania. Excuse my crazy hair in the next picture, these flyways are getting the best of me! The Virgo symbol behind my ear was done buy some guy at Kyklops Tattoo in the Shadyside area in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I don’t remember his name not only because this tattoo isn’t anything exciting but because as far as I could see the tattoos at Kyklops Tattoo were over priced for their quality. I got that tattoo a little over three months ago and it is already fading in a couple spots, looks ugly, and I payed $60 for it! The heart on my finger has stayed on better and I’ve had it for about two years, it only cost me $25, and its on my hand! I got that one done back in Butler as well at a tattoo shop named Ink Vault. I wouldn’t recommend that place for anything other then small stuff though, its pretty creepy and unprofessional.
I am hopefully getting another tattoo this summer along with a redo of my virgo tattoo by Jonnie. I love him! He’s such a nice guy and his work is great and reasonably priced!

Hannah Aitchison

This blog post is completely dedicated to Hannah Aitchison who you may remember from Kat Von D’s reality TV show L.A. Ink. Not only is her work amazing, but she seems like such a wonderful down to earth person.
Hannah was born on December 20th, 1966 in Chicago Illinois. That makes her one of the coolest 48 year olds ever.
During the early years of her journey to tattoo fame, Hannah’s life wasn’t so glamorous. Being a single mother she had to obtain three jobs not even including her apprenticeship. She did all of this just to support her daughter.
Hannah started her tattooing career in Chicago. She went to Los Angeles for a short time playing opposite of Kat Von D on TLC’s reality television show L.A. Ink. Hannah decided to leave the show because, and I quote,
“The producers wanted tits and ass, and I was more of an ass and tits kind of girl.”
Hahaha. What Hannah meant was she was sick of being apart of a television show that was making the tattoo world seem like something it wasn’t. Even though I personally loved L.A. Ink I understand where Hannah is coming from. The show made it seem like all tattoo shops where like soap operas. Now that I think about it, there really was always a little more drama then tattoos on that show. Hannah isn’t about that nonsense. She just wants to celebrate what tattoos are all about; the display of beautiful body art.
Hannah Aitchison specializes in bold, colorful, illustrative works including life-like portraits, pin-ups and classic Americana. I personally love all of her work and one-day hope I have the balls to get something as bold as the stuff she creates.
Here are just a few of her amazing pieces:
This last one is just so intricate. I can’t even imagine being about to get all of those details in a drawing let alone a tattoo!!
Even in the spotlight Hannah stays grounded and thankful.
She is currently a judge on Oxygen’s television show Best Ink and takes appointments at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago.
She is one of the best tattoo artist’s in the game today and is a great role model for tattoo artists, men and women alike, who are tempted by fame but have decided that making art is really the most important thing, after all.
